Joining clubs where you actually build or do stuff makes a huge difference. For me, things like the [insert relevant club, e.g., “Data Science Club,” “App Dev Club,” or “Design Co-Lab”] were huge because we shipped real projects and sometimes even competed in hackathons. I also started a side project with a few friends that we published online—it wasn’t fancy, but it showed initiative and gave me something to talk about beyond classwork. Recruiters love to see that you're self-driven.
